Position: Press Operator
Location: Irwin, PA
Pay: $18.00/hour.
Hours: 5:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday thru Friday.

JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to mix ingredients used to fabricate carbide forms following work orders and charts.
WORKING / ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed inside a climate-controlled environment.
- Worker is exposed to dust, but is required to wear a respirator, so Must be clean shaven every day.
- Worker is required to wear latex gloves.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The candidate should be able to stand for long periods of time.
- The candidate should be able to lift and 65 lbs. throughout their shift.
- Must be able to wear a respirator.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Press Area:
- Turn on press and add water by turning water valve.
- Read press sheet which is based upon the work order and shop material to determine the amount, grade of material, and mold shape to be used.
- Choose the material and move the can to the filling area via a buggy or hand truck.
- Place the metal mold, with a rubber mold inside of it, onto the machine and funnel the powder into the mold.
- Operate the machine to pump the filled mold and pack the material tightly.
- Place a plug in the end and tightly band the top with a clamp using an air powered wrench.
- Pack the mold into the press cylinder.
- Hook the press cylinder onto a crane and maneuver the press cylinder over the press.
- Lower the press cylinder into the machine and lock it into place.
- Operate the press machine for the specific amount of time and monitor throughout.
- Remove the press cylinders using the crane and remove the molds.
- Use an air power wrench to remove the clamp and strip the pressed billets from the molds.
- Place the billets onto a buggy and write up a press slip regarding lot number, date, grade, and mold type.
- Prepare the molds for next use.
- Adhere to all shop safety policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have high school diploma, graduation from a certified technical school, or equivalent experience.
- Must be able to take direction and work well with others.
- Must have good hand-eye coordination.
- Must have good visual acuity to inspect the product, read diagrams, and accurately measure the product.
- Must be able to measure precisely and accurately.
- Must be able to read and interpret schematic diagrams.
- Must be able to continually be aware of safety issues.
