Payroll Assistant - HD
 
 
Employment Status:  Full Time / Contract
Shift:  Monday thru Friday- 8 am to 4 pm                                 
Pay Rate:  $ 20.00/hour
Assignment Start Date:  Monday, March 20 to Friday, June 16                     
Assignment End Date:  Contract – 3 month Assignment
Location:  Downtown Pittsburgh                      
 
Duties
 
  • Using Information Technology (e.g., computers, databases, web-based applications, Excel, and Word) to collect and maintain data and information related to employee payroll and time and leave. 
  • Applying ethical principles in accessing, collecting, using, and maintain fiscal data and information, including employee records and salary information.  
  • Collecting valid and reliable fiscal information to generate reports related to payroll and time and leave.
  • Communicating in writing and orally with linguistic and cultural proficiency (e.g., when answering the phone or communicating with employees).
  • Adhering to program and organization polices and procedures when facilitating time and attendance, handling employee benefit information (e.g., insurance enrollment, payroll deductions), and completing other related duties.  
  • Contributing to the development of program budgets through the compilation of relevant budget information, particularly related to payroll.
  • Participating in professional development opportunities, such as in-service trainings.
  • Incorporating ethical standards of practice into all interactions with individuals, organizations, and communities.
  • Responding to public health emergencies.  
 
Skills, and Abilities
 
Education
  • Associate degree/business certificate in finance, accounting, and/or business administration.

Experience
  • At least two years of experience in payroll, finance, accounting, or bookkeeping; or an equivalent combination of education and training acceptable to Allegheny County Health Department.
