Position: Payroll Assistant
Location: Downtown Pittsburgh/Allegheny County Jail
Type: Contract to Hire
Shift: Monday through Friday- 8 am to 4 pm
Pay Rate: $ 18.50/hour
Assignment Start Date: ASAP



We are currently seeking an Assistant Business Coordinator - Payroll Assistant. This position is located at the Allegheny County Jail.

Duties
  • Using Information Technology (e.g., computers, databases, web-based applications, Excel, and Word) to collect and maintain data and information related to employee payroll and time and leave.
  • Applying ethical principles in accessing, collecting, using, and maintaining fiscal data and information, including employee records and salary information.
  • Collecting valid and reliable fiscal information to generate reports related to payroll and time and leave.
  • Communicating in writing and orally with linguistic and cultural proficiency (e.g., when answering the phone or communicating with employees).
  • Adhering to program and organization policies and procedures when facilitating time and attendance, handling employee benefits information (e.g., insurance enrollment, payroll deductions), and completing other related duties.
  • Contributing to the development of program budgets through the compilation of relevant budget information, particularly related to payroll.
  • Participate in electronic payroll processing, initiating and processing retroactive employee pay increases per pay period.
  • Submit personal action authorizations to process FMLAs. workers' compensation, annual and anniversary pay increases.
Education
  • Associate degree/business certificate in finance, accounting, and/or business administration.
Experience
  • At least two years of experience in payroll, finance, accounting, or bookkeeping.
  • Knowledge of Confidential procedures and practices as it relates to HIPPA and personnel and medical records.
  • Aware of union policies and practices.
