Position: Lead Exposure Outreach Specialist (Bilingual in Spanish)
Hours: part-time (20 hours) daylight, M-F
Pay: $20 per hour
Location: Strip District/in-person position
Type: Contract (grant funded until July 2026)
Currently grant funded through the CDC Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention program grant. ACHD is a sub-grantee of the Pennsylvania Dept. of Health. Our grant deliverables include a contractor to link vulnerable communities and the families of children with elevated blood lead levels to available resources and provide outreach and education about lead exposure and prevention.
Qualifications/Duties:
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Providing education to the families of children with elevated blood lead levels about sources of lead and preventing childhood lead exposures.
- Completing questionnaires with families who accept lead risk assessments in their homes.
- Building relationships with community leaders, organizations, and partners, to identify opportunities for community outreach related to prevention of lead exposure.
- Representing ACHD at meetings with partners and tabling at community events.
- Providing outreach to Pediatric practices to encourage blood lead testing and to provide information on resources for families.
Specific qualifications and skills include:
- Comfort with public speaking.
- Prior experience conducting community outreach and education, especially with underserved communities Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently and move projects forward.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to make initial connections via telephone or email Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
- Relevant work experience in community outreach, health education, or public health/risk communication.
