General Purpose and Description

This position has the primary responsibility for planning and scheduling the job tasks of the electrical maintenance department. These functions include ordering parts, reviewing and planning work orders, coordinating and scheduling work orders, and collecting the required documentation.


Review and Close Work Orders

Review new and incoming work orders daily
Review completed work orders daily to verify labor and hours and parts are recorded in the system
Review work orders for any required follow-up and additional tasks

Plan Work Order Requests

List detailed job steps and tasks
Order and pre-kit parts for the job either from the storeroom or the vendor
Arrange for any required specialty tools
Develop required labor hours and man power
Organize contractor support if required

Develop Weekly Schedule

Assemble the list of work orders to be completed the next week
List of work orders will include PMs, safety, equipment down tasks, and general maintenance functions, and what day and/or shift the functions are to occur
Schedule will generate the required labor hours by day and shift

Develop, Manage and Schedule PM Work Orders

Develop preventative maintenance work orders (PM) for the plant equipment
Update and review PM work orders on at least an annual basis or when needed to revise the job steps, parts, and/or frequency
Generate the work orders on the defined frequency and schedule them for completion
Generate a report on a weekly basis that identifies past due and uncompleted PM work orders

Develop Outage schedules

Begin assembling the list of tasks and work orders to be completed during the next outage three months prior
List all work orders and tasks that will need completed including PMs, Safety, equipment down tasks, and general maintenance functions
Two months before the outage develop a schedule for what day and/or shift the functions are to be completed
Generate the required labor hours by day and shift and determine what jobs will be completed by maintenance and contractor
Solicit bids for the work to be contracted out
Order parts and materials for the outage
Beginning one month before the outage collect contractor schedules and finalize outage schedule
Determine what mobile equipment and rental equipment will be required and order
Organize contractor safety meetings
Pre-kit all parts and tools for the outage

Generate Maintenance Performance Reports

Generate weekly reports detailing the performance of the maintenance department. Reports are to include past due PMs, PM completion rate, work order/schedule completion rate, emergency work orders completed, and manpower utilization and efficiency.
Submit reports to defined plant management and personnel
Track parts delivery status

Relief Maintenance Supervisor

Perform the duties of the supervisor due to vacancy as required


No direct reports to this position other than when acting as the relief supervisor
Indirect reports would be contractors working on projects for this position



Person would have a minimum of five years of maintenance experience
Person would have good written and oral communication skills
Person would be versed in the complete Microsoft Office Suite of programs, especially Word, Excel, and Project
Person would have at a minimum an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or Information Systems


Person would have a minimum of ten years of electrical maintenance experience and five years of experience in this facility
Person would have good written and oral communication skills
Person would have five years experience utilizing a CMMS system in a planning and scheduling function
