Network Engineer II
The Network Engineer II will deploy and support all relevant networking hardware, software and
Protocols including: LAN, WAN, WLAN, MAN, Load Balancing, Firewalls, routers, switches and the
Underlying networking components supporting cloud solutions. The Network Engineer will work closely
With Project Management, Sales, Cloud, and Service teams on analysis, specification, design,
Implementation and support for these technologies.
Design, install, configure, manage, backup, and fully document network switches, firewalls,
Routers, wireless, VPN devices, and application content networking devices.
Act as primary network technical lead for client projects.
Develop project requirements in collaboration with Sales, Project Management and clients.
Performs a variety of tasks under general supervision; but a certain degree of creativity and
Latitude is required.
Identify, document and communicate risks that may impact quality, schedule, or costs.
Participate in weekly on-call rotations for after-hours support.
Facilitate knowledge transfer to internal teams and external clients. This includes complete
Documentation of all technical details of each project and generation of internal operating
Procedures and best practices.
Work with the sales engineering team to help develop best practice solutions for the customer.
Perform on-site and remote technical support for client network related issues.
Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.
Identify, recommend and implement upgrades, patches, new applications and equipment.
Mentor junior team members.
Assists in establishing standards, policies, and procedures as they apply to the use of these
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
3-7 years overall Information technology experience
Minimum of 3+ years in network administration and implementation.
Minimum of 3+ years of routing & switching technology and protocol analysis.
Minimum of 3+ years of firewall technologies with major vendors (Cisco, SonicWALL, Palo Alto,
Administer and monitor LAN\WAN network switches, routers, and physical environment.
Working knowledge of MPLS-based network design, operation and troubleshooting.
Working knowledge of Cisco, Extreme/Enterasys Networks and Dell switches and other networking
Working knowledge of Windows Server technologies preferred.
Working knowledge of VMware and SAN storage products preferred.
Working knowledge of load balancing products preferred.
Strong written, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work well and
Communicate with peers and clients.
Strong time management skills and multitasking abilities
Excels in a team-oriented work environment
Good understanding of network security principles and practices.
Must possess excellent technical aptitude and a desire to learn constantly.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
Working knowledge of/experience with telecommunications protocols and phone systems, especially VoIP, is preferred.
Previous consulting experience preferred.
Certifications in or from multiple technologies/vendors, such as CCNA, MCSA, CCNP, etc. Are
Bachelor s or Associate s Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience is required.
After normal business hour availability (weekends, evenings, holidays, etc.) is required, both
For on-call and for scheduled outages during client projects.
Travel to client sites is required; this requires a functioning personal vehicle for
Transportation and a valid PA driver s license.
Heavy lifting is required.
