The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for a company. This role involves recording daily financial transactions, updating the general ledger, and preparing financial reports. The Bookkeeper ensures compliance with relevant standards and regulations and assists in the preparation of tax documents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
- Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct day book, supplier’s ledger, customer ledger, and general ledger.
- Bring the books to the trial balance stage.
- Process accounts receivable/payable and handle payroll in a timely manner.
- Prepare and file financial documents.
- Reconcile company accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Assist with tax payments and returns.
- Monitor cash flow and produce financial reports to assist management in decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Proven bookkeeping experience.
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, FreshBooks).
- Strong data entry skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration is preferred.
